2019-2020 Mite Registration Now Open

By Marci Johnson 07/20/2019, 10:00pm EDT

It is with great excitement; we are welcoming our new head coach for the upcoming season.  Justin Dorley has been an assistant coach for the past two years and we look forward to him leading our Mites into the future with great success.

Justin Dorley Bio: Coach Justin moved from Long Island, NY to North Carolina in 1998. He played for the Junior Generals and the Stars until his final season in 2006 where he moved to play with the East Coast Eagles. After his final U18 season in 2007, Justin made the Penn State’s Division II hockey team.

Coach Justin also spent numerous years playing high-level roller hockey along with winning a few National Championships. During the 2006-2007 season, he was invited to the US National Team Development Camp. Coach Justin also spent a few seasons playing pro roller hockey in the AIHL and MLRH.

He has now been an assistant coach for the U8 Mites team for the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 seasons and is the Head Coach for the upcoming 2019-2020 season. He lives in Archdale with his wife Heather and two sons, Carter & Alexander.

We have listened to your recommendations over the past several years and are making changes to the program to reflect these changes.  The cost of your jerseys and socks will now be included in your fees, however if you do not need jerseys you will have the option to opt out of ordering new ones.  We will open a Team Store where you can go and order apparel for your team.  This will only be done once; we are looking at an October date for this so please watch for more details to come.

We will also be ordering jerseys earlier than in years past, so they are ready for the upcoming season, so if you know anyone who is wanting to join GYHA Mites please let them know of this earlier date.  We are planning a Season Kickoff party for August 17th at noon.  If you are not sure if your player is ready for Mites please contact Don Johnson, Martin Schneider or Justin Dorley

If you are wanting to become an assistant coach and have not had your level 1 clinic, your background check or completed SafeSport, you can find the links to these on the website under the Links tab.

We have had great fun over the last several years and we want to keep the fun and learning and love of hockey growing.

2019-2020 Fees: Registration will open by 7/27and there will be 3% discount if paid in full by 8/15, Season Fees: $724, Season Fees with Jerseys: $870. This earlier registration date is so we can order the jerseys earlier and they be ready before games begin in late September.  There will be a 4-installment payment plan, 1st payment date of registration, 2nd payment Sept 15th, 3rd payment Oct 15th and the 4th payment November 15th.  Mites is open to birth year players 2011-2013, if your child is a 2014 and you feel they should be considered for Mites please contact Don Johnson, Martin Schneider or Justin Dorley
