Q: My child is finishing the 8U cross-ice season and heading to 10U next fall. How will the transition to full-ice hockey go?

A: This is a great question. There's no doubt that there will be an adjustment period. It will be important to stay patient and realize the changes in game structure that your player will be experiencing. Most importantly, maintain a long-term view. Does talent really matter at 8U?

Talent is fleeting.

At first glance, it’s easy to compare your little skater with others on his or her team. But at such a young age, does it really matter? And do the hockey skills your 8-year-old shows today give any indication of how good they’ll be as a teenager and beyond?

Triad Hockey Alliance On and Off Ice Pre-Tryout Training:

Off-ice :Sundays at the Sportsplex in Greensboro 2-4 p.m. (No practice on Easter Sunday)

Bring stick, gloves and helmet for shooting practice, if you have a roller hockey puck or green biscuit, please bring as well.  Athletic clothing and sneakers.

On-ice:Wednesdays at the Ice House.

All practices are lead by Jeremy Nau and Jeremy Kolb.

We will also have a special goalie skills by Jessica Ptachick.

Monday: Stick and Puck 12:30pm-1:30pm $6

Tuesday: 5:30am-6:45am & 12:30pm-1:30pm $6

Wednesday: Pick up 11:30am-1:00pm $7

Thursday: Stick & Puck 12:30pm-1:30pm $6; Youth Stick & Puck 6:00pm -7:30pm $6

Friday: Pick up 11:30am-1:00om $7

Saturday: no stick and puck nor pickup

Sunday: (4/9) Stick & Puck 10:30am-11:45am $6;

*Pick up Hockey: players MUST be 16yrs or older, full equipment is required, no refs, 30player/4goalie max.

*Stick & Puck: helmet and stick required, all ages welcome.

*Youth Stick & Puck: Parents of young players may skate but may NOT shoot.
